Articles > Research Articles A View of Energy in EVP and ITC By Tom Butler Energy, as it relates to EVP/ITC, will be addressed in three parts:
There is considerable disagreement as to whether or not background sound is needed for EVP messages to be recorded. However, in general, a typical recording setup includes some form of added energy. For audio recording (EVP), sound is provided that is rich in human tones. Sometimes a radio will be used, a fan, maybe even running water. In video (ITC), a positive feedback circuit is often used. This is usually accomplished by connecting the output of the computer video card or recorder to a display, and then pointing the camera at the display. In at least one case of the use of a digital still camera, background lighting and texture is used. Colored paper, different colors of background lighting and display image textures may be used. In this form of ITC, the camera is typically pointed at a video display but without a feedback circuit. Each of these forms of supplied energy appear to be remodulated by the communicating entity to form meaningful information. It is not clear exactly where the remodulation occurs. Different experiments have isolated the remodulation to different parts of the circuit; however, most researchers tend to accept that the remodulation in EVP generally occurs within the electronic circuit of the recording device. One of the common factors that is becoming apparent in the question of supplied energy is the idea that the communicating entity can best remodulate energy that is rich in possible states. For instance, a single frequency tone does not offer as many options as does white noise. In the same way, a tape recorder or microphone that is designed to accept any audio signal is easier to influence than is a radio or television that has optional states engineered out of it to assure exclusion of unwanted signals. Nonphysical energy can be described as energy that is not of the physical aspect of reality. This is not simply a matter of something that has not yet been defined by science. The working hypothesis is that there are energetically differences in levels of reality. That is, nonphysical aspects of reality are energetically different than our physical aspect of reality. Some may think of nonphysical reality as:
However you think of it, the idea is that there is one reality, but that this reality has aspects. Our physical universe is one aspect of reality. Here, we are referring to the greater reality beyond our physical universe as "nonphysical" reality. It is thought that there must be some form of interface between the physical and nonphysical aspects of reality. In math, some researchers believe that this may be defined by the relationship between rational and irrational numbers. That is, the irrational number iX = square root of -1 times the rational number X. In another view, there is scalar and nonscalar energy. Physical reality electromagnetic energy has a vector quality of direction of propagation, and a relationship between potential (electricity) and flow (current). This is thought of as "scalar" energy. In metaphysics, electromagnetic energy is thought to be derived from nonphysical energy that appears to behave more as a field, than as a propagated energy. This is all speculation, but the point is that there does seem to be a difference in these energies and that there must be a form of interface that is knowable. This concept is importance because the communicating entities are thought to exist in nonphysical reality. For them to communicate with us in physical reality, then there must be some form of nonphysical to physical energy translation that occurs at some point in the circuit. One thought commonly posed is that the person doing the recording is providing the means for this translation via personal mediumship. But again, this is speculation. In metaphysics, everything is energy. Thought, ideas, emotion, physical objects and life form are all components of reality and are composed of energy. Self, which is the part of you that is your point of view, your "I" is the true you and is considered to be immortal. As the concept goes, you as Self occupy your physical body in this lifetime, but you are not your body and you will continue in nonphysical reality when your body "dies." As self, you are thought to be very much the same as the communicating entities. This is supported by some of the instances in which EVP experimenters have apparently recorded thoughts of living people.
